Welcome To Sunrise, Florida

Sunrise Florida is home to fantastic Markham Park. Markham is a county park but sits inside of Sunrise. The park is west of the Sawgrass Expressway and just north of West State Road 84. The parks hours are as follows:
Office Hours: Seven days a week, 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Park Hours: Winter - Seven days a week, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., beginning the last Sunday in October. Summer - Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., beginning the first Sunday in April.

This sprawling 666 acre park offers fantastic mountain bike trails that are top rated in the country. The park also boasts having an oudoor target range for shooting enthusiasts adjacent to a 1,600-square-foot clubhouse with snack bars and a meeting room. The Fox Observatory is a for astronomy buffs young and old (every Saturday night the observatory is open to the public...and is well worth the trip...we saw Saturn last Saturday through the high powered telescope available there!) The park has a great many recreational facilities including an Olympic size swimming pool complex(with a mist pool, snack bar, lockers and showers/restrooms), tennis/racquetball center, a biking/jogging path, and volleyball areas. A series of interlocking lakes offers opportunities for fishing and the use of personal watercraft. Bikes and boats are available to rent at the park.

The City of Sunrise is also proud to be home to the BMW Tennis Tournament every Spring. This prestigious tournament - next scheduled for March 2009 is held at the
Sunrise Tennis Club located at 9605 Oakland Park Boulevard. The club is on the North side of Oakland Park Blvd just east of Nob Hill Rd. The Tennis clubs hours are Hours:
Open weekdays, 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.,
and weekends, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
